- Oral cancer screening – Your dentist is often your first line of defense when it comes to early diagnosis and treatment of oral cancer. We look for any suspicious lesions in your mouth, on your gums, and on your tongue. If we find something, we will refer you for a biopsy so you can seek treatment, if necessary. Early diagnosis of oral cancer dramatically improves your prognosis.
- Individual teeth – Dr. Virdee will examine each tooth, looking for any signs of decay or cracks. We can offer you the appropriate restoration to keep your tooth healthy and comfortable.
- Periodontal evaluation – If you have ever heard the numbers being called out during your exam and wondered what it was all about, we are measuring any gaps between your teeth and gums that indicate the presence of infection. Numbers such as 1, 2, and 3 are healthy. Anything higher and you may have gum disease. We treat gum disease at Monroe Dental Arts, based on your individual needs.
- Your jaw and bite – Do your teeth come together properly? Do you have a clenching and grinding habit? We will look at your bite and jaw function to rule out issues such as TMJ and bruxism. If you do have the signs of a bite or jaw problem, we can help reduce symptoms using a custom nightguard.
